At any given time, you may encounter a jogging member of the Bay Are Runners (BAR) on The Eastern Shore Trail. BAR is a group of women and men who have a passion for running and meet weekly in Mobile, Fairhope and Daphne. Members come together to conduct the Joe Cain Classic 5k Run on Joe Cain Day during the Mardi Gras season in Mobile. Proceeds from the race consist of race entry fees and corporate sponsorships and are given to challenged athletes who deal with their handicaps through athletic endeavors.

If running isn’t your favorite pastime, then consider cycling. The Eastern Shore Cycles (ESC) is a registered USA Cycling Club in Daphne. ESC bikes anywhere from seven to 22 miles and normally at moderate speed. The members of The Slow Bicycle Society on The Eastern Shore prefer to bicycle at a slower more social pace and favors more of leisure entertainment and slow cycle transportation.
